Grow baby, grow

Darius and I took Young Sir to his two week (well, 18 day) check up at the birthing center last Wednesday. He weighed in at 8 lbs exactly. That’s an ounce and a half from two pounds over birth weight. So even with the spitting up and the much shorter (more efficient) nurses than I’m used to, we must be doing something right. Also, my milk is awesome.

BA's first month

Everything else for YS and me checked out right within normal parameters too. Hurray.

Now that my mom is gone, weekdays have mostly fallen into a nice routine. Nurse every 2-4 hours overnight (I think I got 5 hours of sleep solid the other night!) with one diaper change around 2 or 3 in the morning. Nurse around 6 or 6:30am. LP’s alarm goes off around 6:45. Snuggle with him for a bit and get myself and him dressed. If YS is awake, change and wrap YS, otherwise leave him sleeping in the bed (or wrap him depending on my mood). Brush teeth and eat breakfast with LP. Then either change again (maybe) and dress YS, get everyone in the car and get LP to school or if C is bringing LP to school with V, then either nurse YS or get a bit of stuff done around the house, or possibly shower (if YS is still asleep in bed or can be put down asleep).

The morning involves nursing and changing YS, hanging out with him while he’s awake, and either watching TV, doing computer stuff, making calls, or resting. Then nurse him around noon and either wear him while eating lunch or see if he’ll sleep in the bouncer for a while. The afternoon usually involves a nap.

Then Darius and LP get home and it’s playing, dinner, nursing, etc. If YS is done nursing around the start of LP’s bedtime routine and is asleep, I’ll try to hand him off to Darius to get bedtime in with LP. Otherwise Darius does most LP’s bedtime. We do sometimes try to bathe both children at the same time (LP in the tub and YS in the little sink tub). Then there’s a 9pm-ish nurse and Darius and I try to hang out a bit together and watch some tv or something. Then it’s one last change for YS, Darius and I play hand the baby back and forth as we get ready for bed and the three of us go to sleep.
