So different the second time around

I had my second midwife visit on Tuesday. It went very well and so different from the last time I had a pre-natal visit around 11-12 weeks. That time, when the midwife got out the Doppler and couldn’t find a heartbeat I was freaking out. This time, however, when she got out the Doppler, I looked at her and said, “I have a tilted uterus, so good luck.” She was confident that she was going to find the heartbeat with it. Guess what? She couldn’t. We did get to hear my uterus pumping blood, which was cool. And this time, I was totally cool and confident. After trying for a few minutes, she looked at me, shrugged, and said “I guess this baby just wants to be seen.”

So off we went to the ultrasound room next door, where it took a moment or two and then Bae was right there on the screen dancing around in my uterus. When Bae finally rested for a moment we were able to hear the heartbeat and everything looks and sounds just fine. I even got to keep a picture.

Here is Bae it 11 weeks and 3 days.

The picture reminds me a bit of Lady Elaine Fairchilde from Mr. Rodger’s Neighborhood. I’m also just a bit worried, because I think I can see a horn on Bae’s head. :)
