Bookshelf

This is a bookshelf set that I built from start to finish while working at Bradford Woodworking. The construction is of plywood with a 1¼ inch wide edgeband, to trap the shelves so that they would not fall out. The sides, top, and bottoms of the bookshelves are made from ¾” Chinese birch and poplar band, painted black. The shelves are made form ¾” red oak plywood with a red oak edgeband, and the doors are made from ¾” thick solid red oak frame with a ½” thick solid red oak panel. The doors were assembled with a “loose tenon” joint. The doors and shelves were finished with a clear coat spray-on lacquer.
